Beverly is currently the assistant director for communications and Web content management at the Duke University Medical Center Library and Archives where she manages and maintains the library’s Website, marketing, and digital communication. She is also the hospital nursing liaison for the Duke Health System, teaching and assisting nurses with their research needs for publication, quality improvement, performance evaluation, and graduate residency. Additionally, she serves as liaison for the students and faculty at the Watts School of Nursing.

Beverly has been a librarian for 38 years and is an alumnus of North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, where she received a BS in biology and an MLS. She is a distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals and has served in a variety of capacities for the Medical Library Association (MLA), including her current role as the first African American president of the association.

Beverly was editor of the MLA News for six years and was a member of the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) editorial board. She is also active in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of MLA and the Association of North Carolina Health and Science Libraries (ANCHASL).

Her research interests include EHR and OpenInfobutton technology, librarian core competencies, diversity and inclusion in libraries, recruitment and retention, reference management, and library administration.
